How a Virtual Consultation Became a Long Term Relationship and 2 Beautiful Spaces

Just because someone lives almost 3 hours away doesn't mean we can't work together! That was the attitude my clients, Mark and Steph and their soon-to-be married daughter, Madison and I had when they reached out to me about renovating both their basement and their primary bathroom spaces.
The basement was going to be a complete gut job. It needed to go from a typical storage basement to a fabulous space where Madison and her new husband, Gabe could begin their lives together. It needed to be fun and young and it would need to not feel like a dingy basement.
Madison and her dad, Mark decided they could make it happen on their end by offering tons of pictures, measurements (and more measurements) and videos describing all of the various intricacies that are part of a renovation. They would send videos and measurements and I would translate that into a 3D rendering so the space could come alive for each of us.

Creating a 3D floor plan for my clients has been a huge advantage for me to be able to communicate what I am seeing in my mind. I often hear from clients that they "can't see it" so when I am able to show them what the space will feel like it makes them feel more confident about jumping into, what can be, an expensive renovation. I always want the finished product to be as close as we can get to what was originally designed so that they have the least number of surprises at the end.

It would be crazy to think I was able to do any of this without a fabulous and highly flexible contractor. Brent Stanley claimed he was retired from being a contractor but the man didn't work like he was retired. Each week he would send pictures of the progress and usually the progress was amazing and so fast. I could not have accomplished this level of excellence if it weren't for Brent and his connections. He made my vision happen and we are both very proud of it.

Once the basement came to a conclusion and the wedding was over, the newly weds moved in and Brent began to demo the upstairs primary bathroom for Mark and Stephanie. This was going to be the beginning of a dream come true for all of us. I had cast the vision for a magnificent green tile to cover 3 of the 4 walls...floor to ceiling and these "yes" clients were on board.

As I had come to expect, Brent moved along quickly and within no time had the bathroom ready to be tiled. With the sheer volume of tile and the tricky slopes that come with a wet room, Brent called in an expert tiler. He did a fantastic job and all of us are simply gaga over the floor to ceiling green tile with the gold and black accents, it is magnificent.

And to think that the first time I got to see this home in person is when these pictures were all taken! This whole renovation was done completely via a virtual connection...quite a testimony to how life can be in 2025. So I guess the lesson is: if you live here in Woodstock, NB or outside of Saint John or across the world, anything is possible.
